A champion of students and the underdog

Dean Gage was also a champion of students and the underdog.

On one occasion while approaching the Buchanan Building, I noticed a commotion on the roadway in front of Dean Gage’s office in the Buchanan building. A crowd of students had gathered around a tow truck which was in the process of towing away a student’s car, which had been illegally parked. The students were protesting driver’s actions when to everyone’s surprise Dean Gage hastily made his way to the scene via the long sidewalk from his office.

Gage instructed the driver, in no uncertain terms, to unhitch the student’s car or there would be serious consequences (ie. cancelling the towing contract). A loud cheer erupted from the students as Gage returned to his office.
